In spite of being extremely hot and dry and having dominating desert topography, Sharjah is rich in agricultural resources and is among the top date producers. Apart from dates, Sharjah also produces apples, strawberries, sweet melons, watermelons, mangos and olives. Various kinds of vegetables including lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, capsicum, zucchini, eggplant and broccoli along with different kinds of herbs are produced in Sharjah farms.
